As people continue to find new ways to travel and buy safely, in line with guidance and rules issued by local governments and health authorities, keeping you safe remains a priority. Today, we announced drivers and merchants must agree to follow Square Eats COVID-19 Safety Practices, which include wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and, for merchants and their teams, abid by our Covid-19 Rules. This commitment will help provide extra assurances to try and safeguard all our stakeholders – customers, drivers, and merchants.
Earlier this year we introduced Square Eats’ Enhanced Cleaning Protocol, a set of guidelines for cleaning and sanitization developed with guidance from leading experts in hospitality and medical hygiene.
In an effort to reiterate our commitment to responsible deliveries and the well-being of our customers, we are now requiring all driver and merchants to commit to the following COVID-19 safety practices:
- All guests and hosts must wear masks and practice social distancing when interacting with each other.
- All restaurants must commit to implementing Square Eats enhanced cleaning process by December 31.**
Starting next year, merchants will be prompted to commit to these health and safety guidelines when they log into their Square Eats account and customers will be asked to agree to the guidelines when they order food delivery. This builds on existing Botswana Government safety initiatives which require everyone to wear face coverings and social distance.
Resources to support hosts
To help our drivers and merchants (and cleaning teams) uphold these standards, we continue to update our Help Center with information, resources, and tools to help them offer a safer delivery experience. We also developed the Square Eats Help Centre that provides merchants with access to tools and resources to help them uphold the health and safety commitments, like articles, checklists, and recommended supplies.
